Blind to Sin

Many a time I have heard that bad things only happen to sinners, and if a man comes into good fortune his is in favor with God. In many instances in the Bible this is proven false. In this case Jesus is asked if the man's sins or his ancestor's sins caused his blindness. Jesus rebukes them.

Healing Without a Licence

Jesus is seen as a threat to the Jewish faith because, while the coming of the messiah is hoped for by all Jews, it means a change. I think that the Jewish leaders felt this change might remove them from their power. They were not ready to except someone with more power than themselves. So they tried their hardest to find flaw in anything Jesus did.

Spiritual Blindness

Here Jesus says that he has come to show us the true nature of sin. While in the past sin was based on laws giving instructions on how to live life in minute detail, Jesus gave a general idea on how sin is involved in our lives.
I enjoyed the part about the pharisees asking Jesus if he was suggesting that they were blind. Jesus says "If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin: but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains." While it is wrong to sin, it is even worse to realize your sinning and continue to do it.
