Romans 5

5:6-8 "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possible dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I understand in this context Paul is saying that we are all unworthy of forgiveness and none of us can be considered a good man. That we should all be grateful for what God has bestowed a upon us. The thing that I don't understand is how Christians can continue to support a war where the ungodly are killed along with the godly. Christ died for us all and not just Americans. I hate this its like we have put blinders on and have forgotten what we are actually doing... killing those who God thought were worth dying for. I am ashamed of my country right now.

5:20-21 "The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

When I read this I kind of see a map from one of my favorite games as a child, Sim City. In it you could see a overview of your city with colored areas of increasing and decreasing brightness that represented fire, pollution, crime, etc. I kind of see that now in this scripture. A city with different areas receiving different levels of brightness (in red), but this map has a double feature. Because when Christ was here on earth. He did not go to the places without sin. He ate and lived with the ungodly. So when I see this passage, I think that because grace increases in those areas, that means God's presence increases in those areas.
