1 Cor 5

Ok this who chapter confuses me. Paul talks about not judging anything untill the appointed time and then he turns around with this chapter, saying that he has already judged this man who he hasn't met. This seems to completely contradict the previous chapter.
It goes on to say to reject this man and not to consort with people like him. I thought it was our duty to reach out and try to help such people and not to reject them. Who better to help find the path of righteousness than one such as this man. Now if his heart is hardened and there is no hope then yes of course cast him out.
But I guess I just don't understand. Maybee this requires some prayer and further reading into the book.
